Mary Erhardy Photographe
Franco-américaine, formée à Paris auprès de photographes de renommée internationale, je suis partie vivre en Afrique du Sud, où j’ai débuté ma carrière dans la mode, entre Cape Town et Johannesburg.
Fille du sculpteur Joseph Erhardy et de l’illustratrice Mélanie Erhardy Van Muyden, dernière d’une fratrie de sept, j’ai grandi dans un atelier d’artiste rue du Théâtre à Paris. Cette enfance à la fois bohème, intellectuelle et cosmopolite, riche de toutes formes artistiques a forgé ma sensibilité et mon sens de l'esthétisme. La photographie s’est imposée très tôt, comme une manière de prolonger un héritage visuel, de questionner cette beauté qu’on m’avait transmise comme une évidence.
De retour à Paris, j’ai élargi mon horizon, de la mode à la joaillerie, de l’architecture au portrait , cultivant un parcours à la fois multiple et cohérent.
En parallèle, j’ai ressenti le besoin d’explorer des séries plus personnelles : une invitation à faire dialoguer la photographie de mode et la photographie d’art, à travers un regard audacieux et ludique qui célèbre et revendique la puissance, la liberté et la beauté du Féminin.
J'ai eu l'occasion d'exposer ces séries en galerie et lors d'évènements en France et en Suisse.
French-american, trained in Paris alongside internationally renowned photographers, I moved to South Africa, where I began my career in fashion between Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Daughter of the sculptor Joseph Erhardy and the illustrator Mélanie Erhardy Van Muyden, and the youngest of seven siblings, I grew up in an artist’s studio on Rue du Théâtre in Paris. This childhood—at once bohemian, intellectual, and cosmopolitan, enriched by all forms of artistic expression—shaped my sensitivity and my sense of aesthetics. Photography came naturally to me at an early age, as a way of extending a visual heritage and questioning that sense of beauty that had been passed down to me as something self-evident.
Back in Paris, I broadened my horizons — from fashion to jewelry, from architecture to portraiture — cultivating a path that is both diverse and coherent.
In parallel, I felt the need to explore more personal series: an invitation to merge fashion photography and fine art, through a bold and playful gaze that celebrates and asserts the power, freedom, and beauty of the Feminine.
